Podium for Banks Racing at first round.

Hel Motostar British Championship 2016 Silverstone

Team riders Ed Rendell and Liam Delves did the Northumberland based Banks Racing team proud with both riders showing great championship promise at last weeks Silverstone event held in tricky conditions. Liam’s weekend was cut short on Saturday when rain, hail and freezing temperatures forced his first race of the weekend to be cancelled. Liam was gutted as he was raring to go after qualifying 5th. His second race was held early on Sunday morning again in bitter cold conditions but at least it was dry. It was Liam’s first proper race start and after nearly stalling it he got away well down the field. He worked hard to catch a group in front of him finishing 7th in the race but he was lapping similar lap times as the race winner so all is looking good for the next round at Oulton Park. Ed’s first race was also cold and wet and Ed quickly got to the front and pulled away. The wind quickly dried the track and Ed’s fast pace destroyed his wet tyres more than others and he was passed with a few laps to go but earned his first podium of the year in second place. Race two was a disaster for most of the top ten riders who all crashed out due to a sudden drop in both air and track temperatures. Ed was again pulling away in the lead when he lost the front fortunately without injury. Many thanks to Johny Wills and Bryant Photography for the great photos from Silverstone. There are 22 races in our championship this year with most of them televised both in the UK, Europe and worldwide and with the former champion riding with the number 12 plate on board one of our bikes and the up and coming Liam Delves riding number 34 this is a perfect time to think about becoming a sponsor to our team. British Superbike meetings have crowds up to 30,000 people on the day plus TV and media coverage. The switch over to Moto3 bikes has been expensive and the costs are still ongoing but we are determined to stay at the front and desperately need more help especially during this change over year with Liam moving from the teams 125 to a Moto3 as well. If you can help in any way at all call Pete on 07762 428 210 or email [email protected] or for full contact details visit the team website www.banksracing125.com Every little bit will really help and go to make the bikes the best we can for the 2016 season.
